- The Hey Marseilles sound is immediate, evocative, mostly acoustic, always emotive. It's classically-trained brothers Sam and Jacob Anderson on cello and viola, their strings grand and mournful on To Travels and Trunks' sweeping title track. It's the wheeze and moan of Philip Kobernik's accordion, simultaneously the gawkiest and most romantic of all instruments, opening the gorgeous "From a Terrace," and his kid-at-a-carnival Rhodes on the 6/8 spin of "Gasworks." It's Nick Ward's electric guitar on the epic "Calabasas," stretching into the distance like an open road. It's the Dixieland swagger of Patrick Brannon's trumpet on uptempo lead single "Rio”—recently Song of the Day at NPR, Spinner.com, and KEXP. It's a songwriter's urgent expression via vocalist Matt Bishop, expanded with huge singalong choruses, unraveled by a virtuoso band's sinuous arrangements. It's modern vintage, a folk-pop jam session at a vanished cabaret on the Seine, an indie rocker's fantasy of his grandparents' first kiss.
Lemolo is a dream-pop duo from Seattle, Washington. The band is comprised of Meagan Grandall on vocals, guitar and keyboard and Kendra Cox on drums and keyboard. “The energy these two produce live is a force to be reckoned with,” according to Victoria VanBruinisse of Three Imaginary Girls, and Abbey Simmons of Sound on the Sound adds that Lemolo leaves the listener “aching for more.”

- Few guitar players are more exciting than SCOTT PEMBERTON. He plays his instrument with a passion that is seldom equaled. It is not surprising that he receives comparisons to a wide variety of the greats spanning many genres including Jimi Hendrix, Dick Dale and Grant Green. A Scott Pemberton Super Band show unfolds a lot like an awesome date. Imagine cool conversation over dinner with the Meters, then drinks and dancing with the Lips, and finally the after-party with James Brown that leaves you sweaty and satisfied. This is no movie date. An evening with Scott Pemberton will be a night to remember.

- Jordan Rain of Bellingham, WA took the name Yogoman as his DJ Moniker in 1998. Yogoman is the name of a comic book created by Rain's youth friend and current Seattle Hip Hop DJ Mad Max Wallace. Yogoman hails from Planet Yog, where vibrant and nonsensical dance moves are commonplace. Beginning with a range of musical genres including classic rock, hip hop, soul to punk, DJ Yogoman found a love for Jamaican music, with its playful, laid-back, yet intense, and steadily danceable rhythms. Yogoman also recognized Jamaica’s early music (Mento, Ska, Rock-Steady, Reggae, early Toasting & Dub) as being friendly to all ages and backgrounds of human beings. While respecting the ingenuity of the D.I.Y./Underground culture that informed his earliest performances, Rain seeks to fuse the raw, anti rock star, queer positive, and forward thinking elements of underground music with his simultaneous desire to unify people through a music palatable to all-ages and backgrounds.

It takes a certain, quiet strength to work in the shadows, and an entirely different kind of fortitude to step into the light. Franchot Tone is blessed with all of the above. The Oregon-based singer/songwriter/producer isn't a household name, thanks to his decidedly behind-the-scenes work on some of the coolest musical projects to emerge from the West Coast in recent years. But his sound is unmistakable: take a pitch-perfect pinch of vintage reggae and dub, a sun-fried splash of laid-back SoCal pop-rock, and a heaping helping of Meters-style funk and soul, and you've got Tone's brew. It's a flavor he's added to a bunch of projects that didn't bear his name, choosing creativity and fulfillment over fame. Over the past several months, however, a solo path has revealed itself, illuminated at every turn by someone else. Now, Tone is stepping up to the front of the stage for the first time. It's a new role, but one he's tackling with confidence and a sense that it's one he's meant to play. More than ever, we live in a world where artists will do anything to find themselves in the spotlight.

- It's immediately evident at a WINDY HILL show that the band is excited about bluegrass music and have big fun picking and singing. They're becoming increasingly well-known – and are winning awards – for their entertaining performances. Windy Hill began as an idea in a Menlo Park (CA) High School wood shop class, where two 17-year-old friends sat around their work station sanding their projects and talking about live music. They discovered a mutual love for the songs of Bill Monroe, Carter Stanley, and Jimmy Martin and set out to learn to play and sing traditional music.
